Mark DeGrossCo-Owner of 2Fast WMRRA # 35, AMA # 135 Co-Lead Instructor, 2Fast Road Course Instructional School
Mark has been a motorcyclist all of his life. Mark has raced in Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Events (WMRRA) locally, and also in the OMRRA, AFM, and AMA events as well. A 2002 WMRRA Open GP Twins champion, Mark’s roadracing experience includes West coast AMA events where he competed against the likes of Jamie Hacking, Ben Bostrom, Miguel Duhamel and Tommy Hayden in the AMA 600SS & Formula Extreme series. A multi-time attendee of Jason Pridmore’s STAR schools, Mark has also attended Freddie Spencer’s school in Las Vegas as well as Mike Sullivan’s school here locally. In short, Mark’s track day, school, racing experience and results provide him plenty of experience to share with students. Mark is one of the lead instructors of 2Fast’s road course schools and helps manage a staff of over 30 people who make up Team 2Fast (instructors, marshals, trained corner workers, and operations people). During 2Fast trackdays, Mark will join students riding his own 2003 Honda CBR600RR. The owner of a small aerial mapping business in Kirkland, WA, few people know that Mark was at one time a key special teams player for the University of Washington Huskies football team during the Don James era, and has a Rose Bowl ring to show for it. Additionally, Mark is one of the founding members of R.O.G.U.E., a nationally recognized Honda RC51 website resource you can find at www.rc51.org. Mark is considered by many to be an expert when it comes to Honda RC51’s. Mark is married to Team 2Fast member Taji DeGross and is blessed with 3 great children in D'Marco, M'Shaiya Belle, and Michaelo DeGross. |

Brian Orton:Co-Owner of 2Fast Co-Lead Instructor, 2Fast Road Course Instructional Schools
Brian has been riding motorcycles since he was seven years old, giving him nearly thirty years of motorcycling experience. Brian is a veteran of many track days, performance schools, and teachings from the likes of Code, Pridmore, and others. While Brian does not have the roadracing background of most of Team 2Fast's hand-picked track day instructors, that doesn't change his ability to teach performance-oriented skills to track day students. If anything, it allows him to better relate to street riders who - just like himself - want to become better riders on both the track and public roads. Students will notice something about riding with Brian: he's smooth, relaxed, and confident on a motorcycle… an excellent example for 2Fast’s students. Additionally, when speeds pick up, his lap times without any racing experience have earned him the respect of many who do race. Brian is an avid motocross rider on his 2005 Honda CRF450, and is a regular at MXGP motocross park as well as the arenacross track at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. When he’s not instructing students with Mark, Brian is an independent, fee-based investment advisor and financial consultant in the Private Asset Management group of Kibble & Prentice (www.kpcom.com). Brian’s clients include the world’s top professional motocross, road racing, and extreme sport athletes who seek Brian’s assistance with investment, insurance, and tax-related matters. Married to Team 2Fast staff member Tina Orton, Brian is daddy to Christian (6 yrs old) and Elise Orton (4 yrs old). Brian is also the co-founder and Vice President of The NephCure Foundation, a foundation dedicated to kidney disease research funding. He is also the director of The Seattle 100, which benefits The NephCure Foundation. [In 2004, the Seattle 100 raised over $70,000 for charity, and in 2005 grossed $92,000). |

The remaining members of Team 2Fast are a carefully chosen group of instructors, course marshals, corner workers, and staff members who make 2Fast Track Days & Instruction possible. Each and every member has been hand selected for their commitment to excellence, professionalism, and their individual ability to contribute to our track days and schools. |
| Instructors: | ||||||||
2Fast instructors have been selected with several factors in mind. On one hand, we of course want instructors who are fast, competent, skilled motorcycle riders. Each instructor’s experience and ability is critical. No less critical, however, is a second factor: their ability to communicate (teach) what they know. A fast, skilled rider is of little use to a paying customer if he/she cannot communicate or teach effectively what he/she knows to students. Thus, 2Fast has selected the Northwest’s best riders who are also good at communicating, explaining, and demonstrating 2Fast teachings. 2Fast is proud to introduce our team of highly qualified instructors: |

Briggs Willoughby: ELM & VP of Speed WMRRA # 193 When Briggs was a kid, his mom wouldn't let him have motorcycle. If only she had! Look at all the trouble she could have saved! Since getting his first Nighthawk 650 at the age of 21, Briggs has never stopped riding. He started road racing in the local clubs in 1995 and at the national level in 1999. Briggs was the 2001 OMRRA Open Twins champion, as well as having numerous wins and podiums in various classes. He has also competed in AMA and FUSA National races. Briggs has been instructing track days for many years and really enjoys helping people get faster and have more fun riding their bikes. He has many opinions and ideas and is always more than happy to share them with anyone who will listen! Briggs is also very involved in WMRRA, having sat on the Executive Board for several years and is currently a member of the WMRRA Board of Directors. On the street Briggs and his beautiful new bride Tina, enjoy cruising on a VTX 1800. In his spare time, he is a software engineer at Microsoft. In the off season, he'll be happy to give you a schoolin' on the trails at Tahuya on his WR450, or on XBox Live in MotoGP2 ("Kneepuck"). |

Brad Gua: Seattle 100 Racing & WMRRA # 51 Has anybody ever seen Brad without a smile on his face? He has a lot to smile about: owner of Performance Coatings in Auburn, a family that all rides (wife and son race flattrack), and a WMRRA fast guy too. Brad was # 2 in 600TFS in 2002 and always near the front in the other 600 classes. We are also very thankful for Brad, he suffered a bad crash at Portland earlier in the year 2004 and broke his neck. Thankfully, he walked away and was cleared to race again by the end of the year. Don't let his playful attitude fool you, he can ride with the best of them and will give students numerous tips and pointers to help them improve their riding. |
Ross Delong: WMRRA # 3 Ross has been riding bikes since the early age of 7 - his first was a Honda. During the intervening years many interests have come and gone but motorcycles have always been a central part of his life. A highlight of his career was when he was the former head mechanic for Team Kawasaki at Daytona. His current rides are an '03 Ducati 999s, '05 GSXR 1000, and a 1991 GSXR 1100. Ross finished # 4 overall in the points for WMRRA in 2004 and won 2 Class Championships: Open GP Twins & Early Heavyweight GP. His very smooth style speaks of using his head and not just his wrist. It also keeps the tires down and the handlebars up for Ross. Couple that with his genuine love for the sport and his enthusiasm to help others learn it, Ross helps many students take their riding to the next level. |
Stuart Feldt: WMRRA # 130 Stu was fascinated with motorcycles all his young life, but never bought one because of disapproving parents. He was threatened with the prospect of financing a college education on his own if he bought a motorcycle during college years. But after visiting the 1999 Motorcycle Show, he got bitten with the motorcycle bug hard. That next May he bought his first motorcycle, a 2000 Triumph Sprint ST. After doing a few track days in 2000, he started racing in 2001 on a 1998 GSXR 600. Stu has been to 4 Keith Code classes at Laguna Seca and knows his way around a track. Stuart has been married for 4 years to a wonderful wife who is supportive of his competing in the sport motorcycle racing. He plans on teaching his son who is 16 months old to ride safely and to respect the potential dangers of motorcycles. A graduate of Occidental College in 1989, he is now the owner of a residential construction company. |

Phil Clarke: WMRRA # 323 Phil started riding street bikes when he joined the Pacific Northwest VFR club in 1999. After a several years of riding on the street, he realized the next step in his riding career was to move onto the racetrack. He came to realize that the track was a safe place to learn the limits of his motorcycle and riding ability. After his first full year as a club road racer he has been able to take home a number of podium finishes - includeing3rd place overall in OMRRA 600 super sport, 600 super bike, and 750 super sport senior classes. He has also taken motorcycle riding instruction courses, including graduation from the Freddie Spencer riding school. Phil has a laid back, have fun attitude that combined with his knowledge of riding fast translates into a very effective instructor. |
Scott Avery: Well known in WMRRA as one of the best people to draft down the straightaway on his SV, Scott is big enough to know that he will never challenge the likes of Rossi, Biaggi, or even Sullivan. But that doesn't stop him from trying! Riding motorcycles for about 10 years and racing for 5, Scott has been to almost every motorcycle school on the West coast. CLASS, Keith Code (4x), and Freddie Spencer (3x) have drilled into Scott's head that learning how to ride well on the track starts with the basics. Having worked a number of private track days as an instructor, Scott hopes to show riders that being smooth on the controls can really improve anyone's riding and racing. Race Bike: 2003 SV 650, Street bike: 1998 VFR 800, Special: 1994 RC 45 Scott lives outside of Seattle on 2 acres with a great big garage and a very fat cat. |

Tom Wertman WMRRA # 94, AMA # 94, 194 Tom has been a motorcycle nut his whole life, so when he took to racing it was a natural fit for him. He won the WMRRA 750 SuperBike championship in 2002 and also finished 4th in overall points that year in the club. In 2003, Tom did a full season in the AMA SuperBike and SuperStock series. His best finishes were 18th in SuperBike at Road Atlanta and Road America, and 15th in SuperStock at Laguna Seca. All this racing at such high levels means Tom knows what he's talking about. He is a wealth of information, and very easy to talk to, so be sure to look him up and get some first class riding tips and advice from Tom. Tom works as machinist at Boeing and also runs Victory Lane Motorsports which offers aftermarket parts to trackday riders and racers. His wife Brenda also instructs with us and their whole family is into riding. |

Brenda Wertman WMRRA # 60 They say if you can't beat them, join them....and joyfully Brenda has. After a few years of watching her husband Tom race, Brenda figured it was time to have her try at it. Jumping onto an SV650, she found she thoroughly enjoyed the sport - not to mention all the attention she got being a girl in a male dominated sport. She turned in some good performances and got her lap times down to a 1:40 on the SV. (She can ride boys!) Brenda always has a warm smile on her face, loves to work with people, and has a great perspective on riding and teaching. Brenda is currently in dental school working to be a Dentist. When not studying Dentistry, riding on the track, or enjoying some time with her husband Tom, she is super-mom for her two boys. |

Geoffrey Lambert: WMRRA # 316 Geoff started racing with WMRRA in 1985 on an 82' CB-900F, and in 1986 started racing GSX-R 750's with both WMRRA and OMRRA... which he's been doing ever since. He has qualified Top 5 or better since 1987 for the Suzuki GNF in the NW region, but quit racing in 1995 for a few years. In 2003 he returned to racing as WMRRA Chaplain with Team Racers For Christ, also know as Team RFC. In 2004, Geoff competed in the Suzuki cup after 9 years away and qualified 3rd in the region - in both 750 and Open! (Who said a prayin' man can't be fast!!!!) Geoffrey is as friendly as they come, is one of our guest's favorite instructors, and with his 15+ years of racing is a wealth of information and knowledge. |

| Course Marshals / Corner Workers: | ||||||||
Like 2Fast’s instructors, our 2Fast course marshals and corner workers have been selected with several deciding factors in mind. First, our marshals are skilled and experienced motorcycle riders. Each has a background in motorcycling that ranges from racing to interstate touring to national level AMA flat tracking. While our marshals each have varying degrees of experience on and off the track, each knows what they’re doing on a bike. Second, our marshals have been selected for their maturity and ability to act properly in dangerous or potentially volatile situations... particularly when they're working in corners. Our course marshals and corner workers are the “safety enforcers” at our track days, and thus must be able to act appropriately when duty calls. 2Fast is pleased to introduce our course marshals, each of which shares corner working duties as well: |
Andy Orton: Andy is one of our two operations managers, and a lead course marshal at each 2Fast event. He is one of two people in charge of pit lane operations and a team of marshals/corner workers: Dave Robbins shares the same operations and pit lane duties with Andy, and is manager of the other corner worker/course marshal team. Together, Andy and Dave oversee all 2Fast track day operations, session changes, and corner work - their two teams working in unison to ensure smooth operations for our track day and instructional school guests. Andy currently rides a 2004 Honda CBR1000RR as well as a 1995 Ducati 995. He has almost forty years of experience riding motorcycles, and is also a motocross and desert rider when not riding his custom Harley or driving one of his old Corvettes. Recently retired, Andy is the father of Brian Orton and a veteran of many track days. He has never raced, but is a confident, smooth, experienced street rider with many track days under his belt - and a favorite riding buddy of Marshall Dale. Together, Andy and Marshall both enjoy "spirited" rides on their favorite back roads... the ones with lots of turns and twists. Additionally, Andy's passion for riding motorcycles is addictive: you won't find anyone more enthusiastic about the joys motorcycling and track days than Andy. Andy and his wife, Maryl Lee, both live in Snohomish. Andy is an experienced bicyle rider, racquetball player, and at one time competed in triathlon events and several 100+ mile endurance bicycling events. |

Marshall Dale: Marshall is an important member of Team 2Fast: he's an on-course marshal with a special headset in his helmet that allows him to talk and communicate with all the corner workers and Pit Lane while riding the track. If someone is breaking rules or a crash has occurred, Marshall is able to report matters to 2Fast staff quickly. Marshall started riding dirt bikes at the age of 8, and has been riding street bikes for over 30 years. He currently rides a 2003 Honda 954, and has never raced - but is unquestionably a smooth and competent street rider. Passionate about the fun that can be had with track days, Marshall has carved up nearly every curved road in the Northwest. Over the years he has been drawn to adrenaline sports and is an experienced hangglider pilot, scuba diver and skier. He enjoys camping with his family and coaching his 2 daughters in soccer when he is not on his bike. Marshall is a long time pharmaceutical rep for Pfizer. |
![]() |
Dave Robins: David is a skilled street bike rider with over 19 years experience on the street, and along with Andy Orton, is our other operations manager. In 2005, Dave completed his first season of road racing with WMRRA, yet he also rides and has raced motocross. [He rides a KX 250 dirt bike which he enjoys riding in the winter months when he’s not on his street bike.] This year David rode and raced an '04 Suzuki GSXR 750. David is father of Kalie and Jessica, who do not approve of his riding by the way, but love him all the same. He is a co-owner of a custom wood window business in Mukilteo, WA and works hard to raise his 2 daughters as a single dad. David ranked in the top 5 (left and right) in the state of Washington for arm wrestling. So if he asks you to do something, just do it and don’t try him! |
![]() |
Mel Hartwig: Mel Hartwig is a course Marshall for Team 2Fast, and has been riding bikes for 39 years, some of it in the dirt on trails and hill climbs but primarily on the street. A veteran of track days and Reg Pridmore's CLASS riding school, Mel is a mechanical engineer who likes to understand the design, performance, & setup of bikes as much as he enjoys riding them. Good for up to 12,000 miles a year on Northwest back roads, often with his wife, Mel owns a garage full of bikes - many of them vintage: '72 Triumph 650cc Bonneville, a '74 Norton 850cc Commando, a '93 Ducati 888-SPO, a '99 Ducati ST-4, and a '02 Ducati ST-4s. Mel's motto of "be safe and always in control" will be demonstrated by the fact that he will be riding his Ducati ST-4 touring bike on trackdays. |

Mike Newell: Mike started riding motorcycles when he was about 6 years old when his dad got him started on a Honda XR75. During his first solo ride on that bike, he promptly slammed himself into a chimney earning Mike a healthy respect for hot muffler burns on the legs (his sister still says that he had the word "Honda" burned into his skin from that incident). Mike's current bike is a 2000 Aprilia Mille R that he bought in Florida and rode back to Seattle after quitting his former job. 2004 was his first year on the track and he absolutely loves the adrenaline rush associated with it and wants to share the experience with as many people as possible. When he's not riding Mike enjoys snowboarding and spending time with friends. |

Mark Price: Mark started his motorcycling career,
after drooling over his dad's bikes for as long as he can remember, at
age 20 with the purchase of a 1987 VFR700F2. Within a few months, Mark
was taking it to the track. He participated in one track day before
attending rider's school with the CMRA and entering the Mini Endurance
series with his brother, David Price, at Oak Hill Raceway in Texas.
Having gotten a taste of competition, Mark was hooked. Despite not
always having the most modern equipment, sometimes riding bikes 15+
years older than his competition, he always had a great time. Some of
his racing accomplishments include: |
Deron Amans: |
Danny Stanley: Danny grew up riding anything and everything his parents were willing to let him go "mach" speeds on; from 3-wheelers and quads, to dirtbikes and snowmobiles. His obsession for riding began at a very early age - and he's kept it going throughout his life. A serious adrenaline junkie that chose track days as a safe alternative to continuing to ride fast on the street, he's been riding sportbikes off and on for about 13 years. His current bikes are a Suzuki GSXR1000 and a Suzuki TL1000R. When not riding his bikes he enjoys snowboarding and mountain biking. |
Brett Hutton
Brett got his first mini bike at age 6, his first street bike at eighteen. At twenty, he did his first weeklong tour. In the spring of 1992 he bought a Honda ST1100 and thereafter regularly baffled friends by disappearing for up to 4 weeks at a time. As the owner of Windoworks Etc, a window cleaning company, Brett has had the freedom to explore most of the States and a good portion of Europe from the seat of a motorcycle. It was the endless curves in the Alps that seduced him! Or maybe it was that first track day in Spokane. Anyway, one day of touring was no longer enough. Suddenly the perfect motorcycle was too heavy, too slow. More track days followed. Then the unthinkable happened: he traded in his baby for a Triumph Sprint ST. The honeymoon, however, only lasted six months. Now, Brett has three motorcycles; a GSXR-750 for the track, his Sprint, and a Suzuki DRZ400. Being single, he gets to hedonistically indulge his addiction to all things motorcycle. He loves to learn, teach and most of all, play. |
Jim Hansen: AKA, Muppet boy. Jim has been riding motorcycles on and off since 1975 when he got a 1970 Honda SL70 (wishes he still had it) and then found out how fun sport bikes are in 1998 when he got an F4. He started riding the track about 4 years ago, and fell in love with it, ( he's now an official track junkie ) When he's not on the bike, you can find Jim in an airplane. He's been flying since 1971, and was born in 1965 ( yes, he was 6 years old!). His Dad was his instructor. He is now a commercial land, sea, instrument rated, advanced ground instructor, and a certified flight instructor. |
Bill Liddell: Course marshal Bill Liddell began riding on a Honda Mini-Trail in 1970 and his childhood fascination with motorcycles has continued through to his present 2005 GSXR1000. Bill is an admitted adrenaline-sports enthusiast and has been a ski racer for over 20 years. In addition to sport bikes, he enjoys dirt bikes, mountain climbing, and competitivemountain biking. Currently, Bill works at Microsoft. |
![]() |
Michael Perniciaro: Michael joined us in our first season as a corner worker and course marshal having spent the last 4 years riding sportbikes. Michael is a street rider and has never raced, but takes performance-oriented riding seriously. In 2003, Mike took Reg Pridmore's "Class" School, and was immediately hooked on the benefits of participating in track days. Since then, he has added more track days to his record, and is one of 2Fast's staff members you'll find encouraging riders to play it safe, practice being smooth, and ride intelligently. |

Greg Orton: Greg Orton is a course marshal and corner worker for 2Fast, having been a motorcycle rider since the age of seven along with his brother Brian and father Andy. Greg has ridden motocross, woods, and desert - and currently rides a Yamaha YZ250. On the street, Greg is the proud owner of a Honda RC51, and loves riding with his Dad and brother when not tending to his other love... his daughter Kailani. If the sun is shining and he's not working, you can bet Greg is out for a ride. Greg is a very smooth rider: calm, calculated, controlled... a super example of what a 2Fast course marshal should display while in the company of our guests. He also happens to be a great guy and a person our guests will enjoy getting to know. You won't find an easier person to talk with at one of our events. Greg is married (wife's name is Hokulani) and lives in Woodinville. He and Hokulani are mountain bikers, and do alot of camping with their friends. Greg works at Amazon.com as a graphic designer. |
Joe Coulter: Joe began riding sportbikes while he was in the Marine Corps 8 years ago. Since totaling his 86 Ninja 600 within 3 months of ownership, Joe has logged many thousands of street miles without incident. He learned two very important lessons in that accident: wear your gear ,and learn how to ride!! With that in mind, he took it to the track to sharpen his skills. After his first day on the track, he knew that he was hooked. He began to ride every trackday he could make it to! Joe started riding with Team 2Fast after hearing about the Seattle 100 charity event. After begging Brian and Mark to ride in the event, he volunteered to help out with anything else that the Team needed. He has been a corner worker and track marshall ever since. You will find Joe aboard a 2001 Triumph TT600 puttering around the track or meandering around the pits, muttering unintelligibly under his breath. Feel free to say Hi, he doesn't usually bite. |
Matt McClung Matt is more than just a member of Team 2Fast’s marshals and corner working staff: he’s a teacher at Mercer Island High School, and is also owner of Dead Duc… a Ducati repair and rebuilding outfit that he operates in his spare time. Matt has been a referral source for Ducati Seattle, has worked at Ducati Seattle during his summers, and is one of the most knowledgeable guys you’ll find when it comes to Italian hardware… the two wheeled expensive kind. Matt is an excellent rider and can be seen on his track-prepped black and red Ducati 749 at our events. |
J. DeBruler: J. DeBruler joins 2Fast having previously been a tourbike (BMW) rider. Then he met Brian and Andy Orton, along with Marshall Dale, on a multi day trip in the backroads of Oregon, and decided he needed a sportbike. The rest is history: J. bought a Honda 954 and quickly became a track day regular. Now J. helps out 2Fast with corner working and operations. J. is a retirement plan advisor in downtown Seattle, lives in Bellevue, and also owns a real estate business with his son. |
Corey Rastetter: Corey used to ride motorcycles. He has since sold them all and traded the recreation in for floating on Lake Sammamish. He still runs the track, remains fantastically handsome, and is a good source of riding knowledge. Corey comes to 2Fast with countless miles in the dirt, starting on Honda 70 and Honda 90 trail bikes as a kid. After many years away from motorcycles, finally a sweet tax return came in and he was able to land his first street bike. Conservative on the street, Corey was interested in learning more about proficiently riding a motorcycle and becoming faster. After the purchase of his ZX-10R, he came to 2Fast. "I learned more in my first track day than I had learned in 35,000 street miles. Every time I come to the track, I become smoother, more relaxed, and much faster than I ever thought I'd be." Corey is also an avid contributor to 2Fast's Seattle 100 event, supporting the NephCure Foundation. |
Jake Frame: As a kid, Jake loved the Honda CB50 that his dad purchased for use around the property. Until mid 2004 that is the only bike Jake ever had. Having being bit by the motorcycle bug at a local track day on board his GSXR1000 and a graduate of our own 2-Fast performance school, Jake has been consumed by the sport of motorcycle riding and has gone on to become a racer on the WMRRA circuit. Jake joined 2-Fast at the end of the 2005 season as a Course Marshal / Corner Worker and plans to remain with us into the future. His plans for next year are growing within the 2-Fast organization along with racing in WMRRA and OMRRA aboard a couple of different bikes. Jake has a four year old daughter (Hailey) who loves coming out to the race track to watch everyone ride. She is looking forward to climbing aboard her own little dirt bike and pocket bike in the next year to being her two-wheeled career. Bikes: 2000 GSXR750 (Race) 2003 SV1000 (Street) 2005 DRZ400SM (Street) 2005 RMZ250 (Race) |

Taji recently became the National Marketing Director for WIMA (Womens International Motorcycle Association) and also just passed with flying colors her Motorcycle safety foundation class. Taji just recently got a 2003 CBR600RR to ride and took the Freddie Spencer Women's program to help her learn to ride it better.
