New Performance Riding School & Track Day Company to Hit Seattle in New Year…
If you’re a listener of local radio
stations KZOK or KMPS, it’s likely you’ll soon hear a spot every ten
minutes announcing each radio station’s live broadcasts at the Seattle
Bike Show this weekend. What you’ll also hear in the ad is the radio
station’s giveaway of passes to Seattle’s newest motorcycle
instruction school and track day company, 2Fast Motorcycle Track
Days & Instruction -

Haven’t yet heard of 2Fast? You soon will. Through their presence at this weekend’s Seattle Bike Show to their stylish baseball caps, cool decals for cars, high quality T-shirts, Team 2Fast jackets, and brochures at nearly every motorcycle dealer in the area, 2Fast plans to have every motorcycle riding enthusiast aware of who 2Fast is by the time summer arrives in 2004. On June 23rd of 2004, 2Fast will host its first instructional school and track day of the season at Pacific Raceways in Auburn, with five more dates available through September – including a weekend date at Spokane Raceway Park. For specific dates of 2Fast instructional schools and track days, visit the company’s website. Co-owners Mark DeGross and Brian Orton formed 2Fast earlier this year, combining their ideas for a highly professional, first-class track day operation complete with a full service performance motorcycle riding school. “Brian and I developed 2Fast with hopes of gaining a national reputation for unparalleled safety, first-class operations, and an environment that is fun, enjoyable, and un-intimidating for all participants - especially first timers. At the end of the day, we hope that our professionalism, attention to safety, approachability of our staff, and our emphasis on having a great time will make us the premier track day organization in the Northwest. Come June of 2004, we will raise the bar on Northwest track days, and our performance riding schools will offer riders the combined teachings of many national racing and riding schools at a fraction of the price… right here in Seattle,” states DeGross. 2Fast’s instructional school targets the beginner to intermediate level track rider with a focus on teaching competence rather than speed. Brian Orton says 2Fast has no intentions of being a race-oriented school. “While 2Fast instructors are some of the fastest, most accomplished members of the Northwest racing community, we’re really a school for the average rider who wants to learn performance riding techniques rather than race-oriented skills. Whether the rider is on a Goldwing, a Harley, or a sportbike, we’ll be focusing our curriculum on smoother, smarter, safer riding techniques for the masses rather than emphasize how to shave seconds off of lap times.” 2Fast plans to distinguish their track days from competing track day organizations in more than one way, and aspects of this are highlighted on the company’s “About Us” section of their website. For instance, on-course marshals will ride amongst participants to ensure that riders of a particular skill level are riding in appropriate sessions. 2Fast wants to make sure that fast riders aren’t mixed in with less experienced riders. Additionally, course marshals will enforce passing rules while also helping newcomers with advice on lines and safe riding techniques when appropriate. While beginner level riders will have their own riding session free of aggressive passing and higher speeds, fast riders and racers will be given the same courtesies: no slow riders in fast sessions. For local racers, 2Fast will have the first session of each hour dedicated only to racers and the very fastest of street riders, each of which must demonstrate lap times of 1:39 or better in order to ride in 2Fast’s “Level 300” session. “2Fast wants to give beginner riders and first timers a very safe, controlled, enjoyable session [Level 100] each hour that is free of aggressive passing and the kinds of speeds that make beginner-level track riders uneasy,” says Orton. “We want riders who have never been on the race track to feel very comfortable attending a 2Fast school or track day. On the other hand, our Level 300 session will be aimed at giving racers the very finest 20 minutes of track time per hour that their dollar can buy. For Northwest racers looking for quality practice time, 2Fast will be the ticket.” Level 200 will be a session for all riders in between, generally those who are more experienced and confident, but not necessarily qualified to participate in Level 300. 2Fast has been marketing their track day and school vision to motorcycle dealers throughout the area, and dealers have responded with resounding support. “Brian and I have been meeting with owners and managers of shops North to South, offering them not only our vision for 2Fast, but also ensuring them of our dedication to a positive customer experience, as well as support and service. Their response has been overwhelmingly positive. If anything, Brian and I underestimated how well 2Fast would be received,” says DeGross. For more information on 2Fast Track Days & Instruction, be sure to bookmark the company’s website at www.2-fast.org. Also, be sure to stop by the radio station booth on the first floor of the Seattle Bike Show this weekend. Owners Brian Orton and Mark DeGross, along with other members of Team 2Fast, will be present at the radio station booth promoting their giveaway of several school and track day passes.
